Attendance Rules

  • Every learner must have at least 75% average attendance in all lectures, practicals, tutorials, etc.
    • Short/long excursions, field visits, or study tours supervised by teachers will count toward attendance.
    • Each learner must have a minimum of 50% attendance in each individual course.
    • The overall average attendance must be at least 75%.

  • The Academic Coordinator must maintain accurate attendance records and follow up with defaulting learners.
    • Warning letters must be issued at least twice each semester.
    • A default list for the previous month must be displayed at the beginning of each month on the notice board.
    • Defaulting learners must be called (with parents/guardians if needed) to meet the Attendance Committee mid-semester.
    • The committee will counsel learners on consequences and address any difficulties.

  • At the end of the semester, the Academic Coordinator must display a list of learners who are not allowed to keep terms.
    • Learners may appeal to the Head of the Institute within 3 days of the notice.
    • After reviewing appeals, the Head will inform the Examination In-charge/Controller to withdraw exam forms of defaulting learners.
    • This communication must reach learners at least 10 days before exams begin.

  • Learners whose terms are not granted by the Head will be informed by the Academic Coordinator and the Controller of Examinations.
    • This decision is final and binding once communicated.
